Morning Announcements

Service club dues are now $10 payable to Evan Elling.

College Credit Plus meeting will be on Wednesday, January 22nd at Van Wert High School Performing Arts Center.  It will be from 6:00-7:30. If you plan to take CCP courses next year, and have never taken classes, it is important that you attend.

This is a reminder for the annual Van Wert Optimist Club Oratorical Contest on Wednesday, Mar. 5, 2025 at 6 p.m. The topic this year is, “How Optimism Has Guided Me Through Trying Times." This is a 4-5 minute speech presentation. There is no minimum age, and all students (under age 19) are eligible to participate. Prizes of $300, $200, and $100 will be awarded for the top three contestants with the chance to move on and win scholarships of $2,500 up to $22,500. See Mrs. Leeth or Mrs. Lloyd if you need an application.

St. Rita's Medical Center is looking for teens who would like to consider being a part of our Teen Volunteer Summer Program to volunteer a minimum of 40 hours between June – August, 2025. This program offers an opportunity to preview careers in healthcare, including but not limited to, working in specific departments in the hospital, helping in our Gift or Thrift Shops, spending time in nutrition, or checking out what our maintenance crews do.  Deadline to apply is March 1st. See Mrs. Leeth or Mrs. Lloyd for more information.

The 7th and 8th grade girls' basketball teams defeated Allen East last night in two very hard-fought contests. The 7th graders were led in scoring by Addie Breese with 11 points and Jaycee Kill with 6, as they defeated the Mustangs 23-17. 8th grade was led in scoring by Mya Wilkinson and Ansley Schwab, both with 13 points. Emme Stevens dominated the glass, grabbing 8 rebounds and adding 3 assists in a 29-22 win. The 7th grade currently sits at 9-1 overall on the season, and the 8th grade is 8-2. Both teams are back in action Tuesday at Delphos Jefferson.

This is a reminder that the Farmers appreciation night is tomorrow night. Remember to wear your fan shirt.

NSCC CCP students, please stop by the office and pick up your textbooks.

Seniors, this Wednesday at Van Wert High School there will be a FAFSA completion night.  If you need help filling out your FAFSA, please come and bring a computer and bring your information. A college financial aid representative will be there to help.

On Saturday, the Varsity Lady Lancers fought hard, but struggled offensively, which led to a loss against Crestview, 48-29. Regardless of this loss, they finished the week 2-1. The JV Lady Lancers defeated Crestview, 21-20. The next game for our girls will be at home against Antwerp on Tuesday, January 14th. Come out and support the team.

There will be a Student Council meeting today during Lancer time in the library.

Morning Announcements:

Attention High School Students: The new 6th man banner is coming soon! If you want to be a part of the banner, you must wear a blue t-shirt on Thursday, August 22. The pictures will be taken during Lancer Time in the gym. 

Next Tuesday, Aug. 27th will be the last day to change schedules.

Anyone interested in joining FCA, you can fill out the google form sent to your school email.  There will also be a very brief meeting in the lecture hall on Friday during HS lancer time.

 If you are planning to do the service club this year, returning members please submit your paper form to the office.  New candidates, please complete the online form and turn in the signature page to the office.
